International databases

As part of the installation media, OpenEdge supplies empty databases that support the language and collation standards of over thirty languages. The databases are located in the %DLC%\prolang subdirectories. See Table D–1 for the subdirectory name for your language. For example, the empty database that you might use to build a Russian application is %DLC%\prolang\rus\empty.db.

These empty databases provide a database labelled with the appropriate code page and collation table for a language. However, if you are developing applications for a language or region that is not represented in %DLC%\prolang, OpenEdge has a utility, PROUTIL, that you can use to set up a unique database.
